Men’s Ministry & Father’s Union

📚 Welcome to the Men’s Ministry & Father’s Union Department

The Men’s Ministry and Father’s Union Department of the Diocese of Kinkiizi serves as a powerful spiritual anchor, purposely designed to equip, empower, and uplift men as godly leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. Recognizing that strong, faith-filled men are essential to the fabric of a healthy society, this department focuses on transforming the hearts of fathers, husbands, and young men, guiding them to walk in the footsteps of Christ.

We are immensely blessed to have the Father’s Union standing as a fully fledged, vibrant department within our diocesan structure. It operates in beautiful harmony, working hand-in-hand with our sister department, the Mothers’ Union, to build balanced, Christ-centered households across the region.

⭐ A Journey of Growth and Faithful Leadership

The vision for a dedicated men’s ministry began to take formal shape over a decade ago. This vital department was officially introduced into the Diocese of Kinkiizi in the year 2009, driven by the need for men to actively claim their spiritual responsibilities.

The journey of the Father’s Union has been shaped by the steady hands of dedicated spiritual leaders:

  • Rev. Edward Maririre: Served as the foundational pioneer, coordinating the department from its inception in 2009 up until January 2014, laying a solid groundwork of faith and fellowship.
  • Rev. James Kabagambe: Seamlessly took up the mantle of leadership and currently serves as our dedicated Department Coordinator, guiding the ministry into new areas of growth, outreach, and impact.

To ensure proper governance, strategic direction, and grassroots mobilization, the department is steered by an executive committee. We are highly privileged to have this committee chaired by Canon Onesmus Turyahabwa, who proudly holds the esteemed and culturally significant title of the “Nyineka” (the ultimate father/head of the household) of the Diocese. His wisdom and exemplary leadership serve as a daily inspiration to all Christian men in Kinkiizi.

⭐ The Power of Holy Motivation

The establishment and undeniable success of the Mothers’ Union in our diocese served as a beautiful, divine provocation. Observing the profound spiritual transformation, unity, and structural development achieved by the women, the men of Kinkiizi were deeply motivated to rise up and establish their own parallel department.

This holy emulation has bridged the gender gap in church ministry, ensuring that both husbands and wives move together in spiritual unison. What began as an inspiration has now matured into a robust, life-changing ministry of its own.

📚 Celebrating Major Milestones and Divine Achievements

Since the formal establishment of this department, the Almighty God has looked favorably upon the labors of our men, resulting in numerous, visible achievements that continue to reshape our diocese:

  • 📖 Revitalized Church Participation: There has been a remarkable, highly visible improvement in men’s overall participation in Church activities. Men are no longer passive observers; they are stepping forward to lead, build, and serve within the house of God.
  • 📖 Restoration of Family Sanctity: The ministry has inspired a wonderful wave of renewal in holy matrimony, with many previously unwedded couples coming forward to the Church to officially bless their marriages through the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
  • 📖 Drastic Reduction in Domestic Violence: Through targeted, intentional teachings, powerful preaching, empathetic pastoral counseling, and dynamic interactive workshops and seminars, domestic violence has been radically minimized in many Christian homes. These unique forums bring husbands and wives together in a safe space to learn, heal, and master the godly principles of marriage affairs.
  • 📖 The Designation of Father’s Union Sunday: To celebrate and highlight the role of men in the church, the diocese has officially designated a special Father’s Union Sunday. This grand celebration is held annually on June 30th, a day commonly known as St. Peter’s Day. On this momentous day, men completely take charge of church services—enthusiastically reading the Holy Scriptures, preaching the word, leading intercessory prayers, offering profound thanksgiving, and welcoming new members through the formal induction of fathers into the union.
  • 📖 Economic Empowerment through Saving Groups: Understanding that spiritual maturity goes hand-in-hand with financial stewardship, some members have proactively started local savings and credit groups. These grassroots initiatives are helping fathers manage their households, pay school fees, and invest in sustainable income-generating projects.

📚 Standing Strong Amidst Financial Challenges

While we celebrate these grand victories, the department candidly acknowledges its current limitations. As it stands, the Father’s Union is not yet strong enough to support itself fully on an independent financial level. Currently, the necessary finances to run its offices, host seminars, and implement outreaches are gathered locally from our generous parishes.

We view this challenge not as a barrier, but as an opportunity for growth. It calls for our cooperative responsibility, deeper sacrificial giving, and innovative thinking as we work toward making the Men’s Ministry self-sustaining in the years ahead.

📖 Looking Forward: A Shared Call to Every Father

The Father’s Union extends an open, urgent invitation to every man, husband, and father across the Diocese of Kinkiizi to join this noble brotherhood. The transformation of our community depends heavily on the transformation of the home, and the home cannot stand without a godly father. Together, standing shoulder to shoulder in prayer and fellowship, let us continue to build families that honor God, secure the future of our children, and strengthen the body of Christ.
