Transforming Faith into Action: Our Diocesan Projects

The Diocese of Kinkiizi believes in a holistic gospel—one that feeds the soul, educates the mind, shields the vulnerable, and protects God’s creation. Beyond our regular pastoral work, our Directorate of Development coordinates specialized social enterprises and community outreach initiatives designed to uplift the people of Kanungu District and ensure a self-reliant, sustainable Church.

Explore our eight core pillars of impact below.

🏨 Hospitality & Eco-Tourism

Our hospitality projects combine high-quality service with sustainable revenue generation. Every booking directly funds our local missionary, education, and health programs.

  • Holy Cross Guest House (Nyakatare): Opened in 1994 with support from partners in Bearsted Parish (UK), this historic establishment offers comfortable guest rooms, a family cottage, and expansive conference facilities. It serves as a peaceful retreat for clergy, international mission teams, and environmental partners like the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
  • Ramsden Guest House: A dedicated hospitality asset strategically utilized for resource optimization, commercial sustainability, and welcoming national and international partners to the Diocesan headquarters.
  • Ngoto Island Tourism Hub: Located in Kirima Sub-County, this eco-tourism masterstroke blends hospitality with wildlife conservation. Operating in partnership with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), the hub protects Bwindi’s unique chimpanzee population while offering community-based tourism products and church-managed lodge services.

🌾 Community Empowerment & Protection

We are actively breaking the cycles of poverty by equipping the youth with hands-on skills, sheltering the vulnerable, and spearheading integrated rural development.

  • Kihiihi Nyanga Community Development Project: A community-centered grassroots framework designed to improve local livelihoods, drive modern agricultural practices, and provide socioeconomic safety nets for families in the lower plains of the Diocese.
  • House of Hope (HOHO): A sanctuary built in Kambuga on land donated by the Diocese to provide a secure foster home for orphaned, marginalized, and special-needs children. HOHO delivers comprehensive education, healthcare, and trade skills to young girls, vulnerable children, and child mothers, restoring dignity and a future.
  • Mother’s Union Vocational Training Center: A flagship socio-economic empowerment center run by our Mothers’ Union department. It equips young women, teenage mothers, and vulnerable youth with practical, market-driven vocational skills like tailoring, handcrafts, and catering to foster true self-reliance.

🕊️ Clergy Welfare & Sustainability

The Church stands on the shoulders of dedicated ministers. These schemes ensure our clergy are honored, protected, and secure throughout their earthly service and into their sunset years.

  • The Pension Scheme: A robust, institutionalized diocesan provident fund engineered to ensure financial security, steady stipends, and structured savings for Church workers, fostering long-term administrative accountability.
  • Retired Clergy Association: A fraternal framework dedicated to supporting retired servants of God. The association ensures our veteran ministers and their spouses enjoy decent housing, healthcare, social connection, and continued honor for their lifetime of spiritual stewardship.

Partnership & Support: Our projects thrive on local devotion and international friendships. If you are moved to partner with, fund, or sponsor any of these departments, please reach out via ourDiocesan Contact Page.
